Bergara B-14R Heavy Barreled Action

Heavy barrel is "REALLY" a heavy barrel. Totally impressed with this barreled action. Can't wait to put it in my KRG X-Ray chassis. Kudos Bergara!! Thank you A and J for making this barreled action available to me.

Having owned a standard steel B 14R for the pasr 5 years, and knowing just how accurate they can be, I ordered the SS HB version due to my like of SS barrels. Opening the box revealed everything packed securely. Inspection proved the product to be as expected for fit and finish, excellent. Cleaned the barrel, inspected the ejector for play, had none, which was an issue for some in the past with the standard rifles years ago. Inspected bore with bore scope, looked fine, just the real fine hair like marks left from machining. Installed in an ORYX chassis and headed to the range. Knowing it takes while for the action to "smooth up" I wanted to get a minimum of 500 rounds through before any accuracy testing, maybe more. I ended up shooting 800 rounds that day in poor conditions, 40* F with 10-12 mph variable winds. I cleaned the barrel after the first 500 rounds and continued. I noticed that accuracy was improving quickly and about 700 rounds groups started to really tighten. Bolt operation had really smoothed up as well, no more drag. Last 10, 5 shot groups with some known ammo produced groups in the .163"-.300" at 50 yards.. Pleased went home and cleaned the barrel again. Bore scoped again and noticed the really fine tooling marks left from rifling and chambering were mostly gone, smoothed up nicely. Second range trip was even colder, 36*F with switchy winds left right 5-10 mph. Shot another 150 rounds, and noticed 2 things. Groups getting more consistent and velocity over the Labradar more consistent as well, with every lot tested showing lower ES and SD than first outing. Shot some 10 shot groups at 100 yards checking DOPE and was pleased with results again. Even in the above mentioned conditions all went under 1", with really nice 3,4 and 5 shot clusters touching. This barrel is shooting all ammo well, not fussy at all. Very pleased at this point, and believe it will be even a better shooter than my 18" steel. That's saying a lot as the 18" is a real hammer! Glad I bought one, really like SS barrel rifles, the HVY profile does help with balance, but the best part is what one of my shooting buddies calls the " COOL" factor! Yup, this has the "COOL" .

Great rifle so far only about 200 rounds thru it trying to find the right ammo. All ammo was about to.75” at 50 yards RWS was the best at about .5 inch. With 10 shot group

Beyond happy with this barreled action. The heavy barrel and stainless steel finish look fantastic! I had ordered the regular barreled action, but Aaron was nice enough to reach out, letting me know the heavy barrel was not much more in price, so glad I upgraded! A+ shipping to my FFL and spectacular customer service!
